HOW SODAL COMPARES

They all take bookings. The difference is who actually runs it.

Most of the apps below match one or two of these. Among the providers we reviewed, none matched all four: a branded app and website, your own payments at 0% added, AI retention built in rather than sold as an add-on, and a real person who sets the whole thing up and keeps it running with you. That last one is the real split. Every other option here is something you log into and operate yourself.

Each provider was assessed against its own public pricing and product pages, plus third-party migration guides where a fee is not published directly. Figures and capabilities verified June 2026; we update them as vendors change their plans. Read our full comparison methodology

COST-EFFECTIVE, NOT CHEAPEST

The honest way to read the price tag.

Sodal is not the cheapest line item you can buy, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Punchpass and a do-it-yourself stack both cost less per month. What that monthly figure leaves out is the markup taken on your payments, the add-ons priced separately, and the hours you spend being your own administrator. Counted honestly over a year, the cheaper options usually are not.

THE YEAR-ONE MATH

What each option really costs in year one.

Assumptions: about 150 active people, $20,000/mo card volume ($240k/yr), single location. Added payment markup counts only what an option charges on top of standard Stripe processing (about 2.9% + $0.30), which everyone pays and is excluded. Figures as of June 2026; quote-only items are estimates.

Estimated year-one all-in cost for Sodal versus Mindbody, Arketa, Momence, Punchpass, and a do-it-yourself stack, on $240k a year in card volume.

Sodal founding math: $2,500 launch plus $99 a month for twelve months is $3,688. Regular pricing is $3,500 plus $299 a month, or $7,088.

The honest read: Punchpass and a do-it-yourself stack are genuinely cheaper in cash. Sodal does not beat them on price. It beats them on the fact that they are self-serve and Sodal runs the whole thing with you. Sodal beats Mindbody, Arketa, and Momence on both.

THE SHARP VERSION

How we stack up, one rival at a time.

One rival at a time, each with the sourced reason behind the claim. Where the source is a quote rather than a published price, we say so.

VS MINDBODY

Your people, your brand, your money. Not Mindbody’s marketplace.

Mindbody lists your organization in its 3M-user consumer app alongside other businesses, and reportedly takes a 20% commission (capped at $30) on clients who discover you there, plus a reported fee of about $500 to export your own data. With Sodal, your people only ever see your brand, and your data stays yours.

VS MOMENCE

Keep the 2.5% Momence’s Pro plan takes on every payment.

Momence’s Pro plan adds a 2.5% platform fee on top of standard processing, and its AI agent is a $399-a-month add-on. Sodal adds 0% and includes retention.

VS ARKETA

That 3% Arketa adds is about $7,200 a year.

Arketa charges a 3% fee on its Individual plans on top of Stripe’s 2.9% + $0.30. On $240,000 a year in card volume that is roughly $7,200. Sodal adds 0%.

VS PUNCHPASS

Love Punchpass’s 0% markup? So do we, and we run the whole thing with you.

Punchpass is a good, fairly priced tool, but it is self-serve, its app is shared rather than your own brand, and it has no AI retention. Sodal pairs 0% with a real person who sets it up and runs it with you.

VS THE DIY STACK

Trade five tools and your weekends for one managed app.

A website, booking, a member app, email, and Stripe is four or five subscriptions you wire together and maintain yourself, with no unified member record and no retention. Sodal is one managed app, set up and run with you.

HONEST ANSWERS

The questions worth asking before you switch.

Some of these have a real answer in a rival’s favour. Those are the ones worth reading, so we have not left them out.

Why not just use Mindbody?

Mindbody has a 3M-user discovery marketplace and deeper, more mature features. Sodal wins on what an independent business feels day to day: your brand only (not theirs), your own Stripe with no added commission, and a real person who runs it with you instead of leaving you to run it.

Why not build it myself with a DIY stack?

A do-it-yourself stack is cheaper in cash. What it costs is your time, and five disconnected tools never give you one member record, shared reporting, or a retention engine. Sodal trades the cash saving for the labor and the unified system.

Isn’t 0% markup normal?

Several good tools (Punchpass, TeamUp, Mariana Tek) also add 0% over Stripe. The difference is that they are self-serve. Sodal pairs 0% with done-with-you management, your own brand, and built-in retention.

You’re newer than the big platforms. Why trust you?

Fair question, and we answer it with terms, not promises: the managed plan is month to month with no contract, and a real person runs your app with you, not a ticket queue. Those are exactly the things owners complain about most with the older systems.

Bring whatever you run today and we will put it side by side with what we would build, including what it would cost you to move and what you would stop paying for.
